Cincinnati Structural Repair
Cincinnati structural repairs are some of the most difficult repairs for a craftsman, the reason being that most of the time they can’t see what they’re supposed to be fixing. Over the years we discovered that the reason a homeowner called us out for a repair is never the real problem and is most likely just a symptom of a larger problem, and sometimes that problem is behind the drywall or siding. It can be frustrating to the craftsman as well as the homeowner because a diagnosis is generally unreliable until someone takes something apart.
There is never an assurance that only one piece of trim needs repair, especially on older homes. Whenever we begin working on rotted board or repairing an old porch, we’re honest with our customers; sometimes those repairs are just symptoms of a much larger problem.
A craftsman’s recent experience comes to mind:
Our craftsman Doug was called out to simple board replacement on a porch. The client was planning a party and wanted the porch to look nice. When we started removing the boards, the entire porch started creaking under our weight and eventually the whole structure—a roofed 20x10 foot porch—began to wobble. We’re lucky there was a hardware store nearby so that we could purchase additional timbers to hold up the porch.
Reliability of Your Cincinnati Structural Repair
We can assess, but there are always surprises. Having been in this industry and come across this type of problem numerous times in the past, we try and prepare ourselves as best we can. That’s why our craftsmen are multi-disciplined, so that they can tackle all sorts of home repairs and the surprises the pop-up alongside.
Many homeowners have an understandable hesitance with these sorts of structural repairs. Not unlike getting a car repair, many aren’t familiar with carpentry terms and are simply reluctant to just take a repairman at their word. The truth is: they should be. There are bad people in the world that will try and take advantage of a homeowner’s ignorance.
The best way to avoid getting taken advantage of is doing your research! Don’t hire just anyone off the internet; look them up and make sure they’re the type of people you’d even trust letting into your home much less repairing it.
